Unit Specifics : Number of Beds : 8

Patient Ratios : 2 : 1

Unit staffing description : Mixed patient population, open ICU, goal staffing 4 RNs 24 / 7

Type of equipment : GE B650 cardiac monitors, vents, Gaymar cooling

Documentation system : Meditech

Scheduling requirements : Self-scheduling encouraged, EOW, OT ok if available, flexible scheduling

Floating policy : ICU may float to critical care or intermediate care areas when needed

Patient Experience requirements : AIDET validation during orientation, unit is focused on Nurse Communication (nurses listen carefully and nurse explain things in a way patients can understand), white board use, hourly rounding, bedside care conference / hand off

Procedures performed on unit : Ventilator care, Therapeutic Hypothermia, PCI / STEMI, IABP, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, TEE / cardioversion, temp pacer, Sepsis, Stroke / TPA, DKA. ICU RNs are responders for Code Blue and Rapid Response Team
