The Radiology Student is responsible for the critique and performance of quality diagnostic imaging under the supervision of a registered technologist. The assistant will promptly and safely transport patients to and from the Radiology Department according to established policies and procedures and assists other staff members upon request.

Qualifications and Experience
High school diploma requiredActively enrolled in an Accredited Radiologic Technologist training programKnowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform procedures including body mechanics and patient movementKnowledge of safety hazards and contraindications for patients and all visitors within the facilityComfortable using email and interacting with Internet applicationsKnowledge of practice management and word processing softwareCurrent CPR certificationGood communication skills, written and verbalResponsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following
Prep patient for diagnostic exam and read notes as to why the exam is being performedGreets patients and escorts them from the waiting room and / or exam roomExplain in detail the procedure to the patientPrepares patients for study by dressing patients according to protocolsEnsures all studies scheduled have correct ordersProduce diagnostic X-ray films or parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problemsPractice ALARA by ensuring proper patient positioning and using shielding devices, if applicableUtilize imaging software to transmit imagesAdjust controls on the x-ray machine to produce diagnostic radiographs with proper use of angles, positional aides, and exposure techniques with the proper density and contrast of the desired body partTakes stock inventory and restocks supplies in the Radiology DepartmentOther Responsibilities
