Position Description :

In the role of Program Manager II you will work independently under the direction of the faculty member serving as the Program Director or designee to oversee the coordination, training and technical assistance , research, analysis, and program evaluation needs for multiple public health initiatives. The primary responsibilities for this position will be to provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the team to facilitate the achievement of the program's goals. The position also places a strong emphasis on working with partners and other stakeholders within MCW, the local community, and across Wisconsin . This position will help to lead multi-disciplinary project team s with diverse community, agency, and academic partners.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain project timelines including tracking deadlines for program deliverables.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring program budget and resources including grant writing and management .
  • Provide direct leadership to assigned team members and contribute to overall team leadership .
  • Oversee training and on-boarding for team members.
  • Oversee the organization of internal and external meetings, trainings, and other events and conduct meeting follow-up as needed.
  • Serve as a primary coordination point for program and project outreach and engagement activities including acting as a liaison and convener with internal MCW partners and external agencies including other academic institutions, government organizations (local, state, federal), and community-based organizations.
  • Lead training and technical assistance to partners, stakeholders, or grantees related to specific projects or initiatives.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, visualization, and dissemination of program data.
  • Coordinate the development of program documents including educational , training, and marketing materials, websites, forms, data collection instruments , and reports.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive databases , shared file locations, a nd files related to the program , while maintaining data quality, security and confidentiality .
  • Participate in data collection efforts and utilize a variety of data sources (e.g., program data, data from external organizations, surveys) based on the project design .
  • Collaborate on research, analytical and evaluation reports and visualizations.
  • Ensure that all data, reports, presentations and other materials are produced with the highest standards for clarity, accuracy, and methodology .
  • Effectively communicate data, findings, results, and recommendations to a variety of audiences such as stakeholders, executive managers, policy makers, practitioners, researchers, and community members.
  • Ensure program data and progress are reported to stakeholders and fund ing agencies .
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and institutional policies.
  • Participate on appropriate committees relevant to the advancement of the program and the profession or area of research and evaluation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities

  • Knowledge of project management , change management, and other performance tracking or improvement methods and tools
  • Knowledge of budgeting , grant writing, and resource management
  • Basic working knowledge of e valuation , analysis, and research methodologies and the application in public health and safety settings
  • Desired Knowledge : Fundamentals of p ublic health, criminal justice, prevention approaches to key public health topics (violence, overdose, injury, etc.) and current or emerging issues in these areas
  • Ability to lead a team and build and maintain trust with team members
  • Ability to develop positive and effective working relationships and establish trust with colleagues, as well as internal and external partners
  • Ability to synthesize data and information and present findings and recommendations to support policy and recommendation development, or data-driven decision making
  • Ability to effectively present or communicate information both verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences, such as agency leadership, policy makers, researchers, practitioners, and community groups
  • Ability to work effectively with people from various backgrounds and to demonstrate cultural awareness
  • Ability to work independently, make complex decisions, and request direction and assistance as needed
  • Ability to prioritize competing requests and demands for time and resources, manage multiple tasks and meet established goals and deadlines
  • Skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting
  • Skills in developing deliverables for executives, stakeholders, and policy makers including written reports, presentations, and visuals
  • Skills in grant writing (local, state, federal, foundation , etc.) and grant management
  • Skills in utilizing a variety of standard software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint , Visio
  • Skills in or ability to learn specialized software for data access, management, visualization, and analysis such as SAS, SPSS, R, ESRI ArcGIS / ArcMap, Tableau, Power BI , etc.
  • Preferred Schedule :

    Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.

    Position Requirements :

    Minimum Qualifications :

    Appropriate experience may be substituted on equivalent basis.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8 years of experience
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge around f undamentals of p ublic health, criminal justice, prevention approaches to key public health topics (violence, overdose, injury, etc.) and current or emerging issues in these areas.
