Executive Underwriter OR AVP, Underwriting Director – Excess Casualty

Zurich is seeking an experienced Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director - Excess Casualty to join our E&S team at one of the following locations : Maitland, FL; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; or Houston, TX. While this position will be based out of one of those locations, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role requires you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers. You will work with national wholesalers to drive growth with a focus on profitability.

Responsibilities

• Proactively seek new account opportunities and manage existing renewal accounts.
• Demonstrate specialized knowledge and expertise in underwriting excess casualty lines of business.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Contribute to the development and completion of proposals.
• Qualify accounts that meet the organization’s appetite, balanced with sound business opportunity.
• Make agent / broker / customer and on‑site calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.
• Negotiate terms & conditions and close deals.
• Cross‑sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account.
• Participate in Sales Team meetings related to assigned brokers and / or territory.
• Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date.
• Develop strong broker and client networks related to industries underwritten by the Business Unit.

Compensation & Benefits

The combined salary range for this position is $98,500.00 – $215,000.00. For the Executive Underwriter role the proposed salary range is $98,500.00 – $165,000.00 with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. For the Underwriting Director role the proposed salary range is $130,000.00 – $215,000.00 with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation.
