Job description

Position Summary

San Diego State Universitys Test Accommodation Center (TAC) within Student Disability Services (SDS) is seeking a dedicated TAC Test Coordinator to ensure equitable and accessible testing experiences for students with disabilities. This position oversees the day-to-day coordination of accommodated exams working closely with faculty staff and students to maintain academic integrity while providing legally mandated accommodations under the ADA. The coordinator plays a vital role in promoting student success inclusion and accessibility across campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the Test Accommodation Center ensuring exams are administered accurately and confidentially in compliance with ADA requirements.
  • Coordinate with faculty and students to schedule and implement individualized test accommodations.
  • Train and supervise student assistants and test proctors fostering accountability and professional growth.
  • Maintain strong communication with faculty and staff to support equitable testing practices and resolve accommodation concerns.
  • Oversee the security handling and documentation of all testing materials.
  • Utilize SDSs AIM database to manage exam requests and track testing data.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to ensure efficiency and program integrity.
  • Support special projects and assist with additional disability services as needed.

Position Information

  • This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits eligible probationary position.
  • This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday Friday 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. but may vary based on operational needs. ( Ability to work evenings and weekends with advance notice)
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
  • Department Summary

    The Test Accommodation Center (TAC) in the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity is responsible for the administration of accommodated exams on behalf of SDSU faculty for students who are registered with Student Disability Services (SDS) and have approved test accommodations. The TAC offers accommodations and services to nearly 1700 students facilitating equal access to the educational process. The TACs responsibility is to both the students and their instructors to ensure that all classroom exams and quizzes are carried out in accordance with each individual students accommodations as well as the instructors directions. Administration of a test at the TAC will mirror the requirements of a classroom setting with the addition of the test-takers approved accommodations. Provision of these academic support services promotes the retention and graduation of students with disabilities at SDSU.

    Education and Experience

    Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    Possession of the required knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A masters degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

    Key Qualifications

  • Experience working with the topics issues and concerns of people with disabilities including appropriate accommodations at the university level.
  • Experience working with university policies and procedures.
  • Experience relating skillfully to a diverse population of students with disabilities faculty and other members of the campus community.
  • Organizational skill in coordinating a high volume of administrative detail in the presence of significant time pressures.
  • Work experience in disability services at the postsecondary level.
  • Experience providing test accommodations to university-level students with disabilities.
  • Fluency in using Microsoft Office Google Suite and database management systems.
  • Working knowledge of assistive technology hardware and software as well as standard computer hardware and software.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.

    Salary is based on your experience education and qualifications within the departments budget and equity guidelines.

  • CSU Classification Salary Range : $5083 - $7228 / month; hiring salary not expected to exceed $5083 / month .
