Summary

As an emergency response medical professional, you will provide immediate medical care to individuals affected by accidents, violence, and sudden illnesses, such as cardiac arrests or strokes. You will deliver pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until the patient is handed over to the accepting medical facility.

Job Duties

• Represent the ambulance service at public events and provide standby ambulance services when necessary.
• Document full assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
• Care for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crisis, offering medical, traumatic, and therapeutic services.
• Work as part of a two-member ambulance crew responding to emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Operate essential equipment, such as bag valve mask resuscitators, external defibrillators, and electrocardiograms for advanced life support applications.
• Assess the nature and extent of injuries or illnesses to determine and prioritize necessary medical procedures.
• Respond to dispatcher instructions and operate specially equipped emergency vehicles to various locations safely.
• Administer medications via injection, intravenous procedures, or oral administration under a physician's direction.
• Communicate effectively with medical personnel at treatment facilities to receive instructions regarding patient treatment.
• Clean and decontaminate ambulance equipment following the transport or treatment of patients with infectious diseases and report such instances to relevant authorities.

Physical Demands

Lift over 50 lbs, push / pull up to 140 lbs, and carry 80 lbs over short distances. Frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead are required.
