Job Overview
We are seeking a professional Driver to join our team. This position drives a Salvation Army truck to pick-up and transport materials to and from specified destinations as assigned while consistently representing The Salvation Army with a professional and polite demeanor and providing exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Operations
- Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army, ensuring all donors are treated courteously and respectfully
- Follow routing procedures as scheduled
- Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors and report any pickup problems to the dispatcher
- Support beneficiaries to maximize work therapy goals through training and mentoring
- Maintain a neat appearance in accordance with ARC dress code policy for drivers
Vehicle & Safety Management
Conduct daily pre and post-trip inspections of air, water, oil, lights, etc. to maintain equipment in excellent working orderEnsure compliance with all DOT and OSHA regulations and requirementsImmediately report any safety or security concerns to management, including accidents involving truck, personal injury, or property damageUse efficiency and care to ensure the security and safe handling of all goods and materialsWear all assigned PPE provided, including but not limited to gloves, masks, or back guardTransportation & Logistics
Responsible for loading and unloading of trucks as neededCommunicate effectively using the DSS program and other apps as assigned on iPadAvailable for flexible scheduling, including early shifts, late shifts, and some weekendsQualifications
Required Qualifications
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) [Class appropriate for trucks operated]Clean driving recordAbility to pass DOT physical examinationPhysical ability to lift and move heavy itemsStrong customer service skillsExcellent communication abilitiesProficiency with mobile devices and basic appsPhysical Requirements
Must be able to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds regularlyAbility to climb in and out of truck cab multiple times per dayCapable of standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the work shiftManual dexterity to safely operate truck and equipmentWork Environment
Work is primarily conducted in a truck cab and at various pickup / delivery locationsExposure to various weather conditionsMay encounter dusty or dirty environments when handling donationsVariable schedule including early mornings, evenings, and some weekends
