  • / / www.maacproject.org /   DEPARTMENT / PROGRAM DESCRIPTION MAAC’s Driving Under the Influence Program (DUIP) provides individual counseling, group counseling and educational services to persons 18 years of age and older, who have been charged with driving under the influence and referred by the Court, Probation, or the Department of Motor Vehicles as required by Title 9 of the California Code of Regulations.
  • The MAAC Project DUI Program is licensed by the State of California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs contracted by the County of San Diego.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The incumbent assists and supports the Program Manager with programmatic planning, coordination, and oversight of all direct service providers at MAAC's Driving Under the Influence Program.
  • They also support the deployment of departmental strategic plans, policies, and procedures, and monitor compliance with state and county requirements and MAAC policies and procedures.

  • Provides leadership and works with staff to develop and maintain a high performance, customer service-oriented work environment.
  • Coordinates and integrates program functions and responsibilities to achieve optimal efficiency.
  • Provides direct counseling support and coaching to counseling staff.
  • Ensure all counseling staff are fully trained in all areas of assigned responsibility.
  • Monitors operational procedures in conjunction with contractual requirements.
  • Ensure counseling staff adhere to all related policies and procedures Ensures counseling staff adhere to the County electronic health record and entries are made within the designated timeline.
  • Responsible for the oversight of daily operations and assisting with interviewing potential applicants Responsible for participating in audits conducted by the County, State and MAAC.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures and guide­lines.   QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Knowledge of :

  • Title 9, County and DUI Program requirements Chemical dependency issues and resolutions Federal, state, and local regulatory codes related to program or project activities and operations.
  • Community and social service needs of low-income people and relevant community resources.
  • General office administration practices and procedures.
  • Standard business software, including Word, Outlook, Access, Excel, databases, and use of the internet.
  • Recordkeeping and filing practices and procedures.
  • Ability to :

  • Maintain professional behavior and act as a role model at the work site and in the community.
  • Respond to crisis and emergencies which may be alcohol or drug related.
  • Manage and evaluate a variety of program functions and activities to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Understand, interpret and respond to client needs and expectations.
  • Assess the participants’ immediate needs and ensure participants’ receipt of needed services through personal service or making appropriate referrals.
  • Prepare and give presentations on the programs or projects functions, activities, and issues.   Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, group planning, and decision-making processes.
  • Interpret, apply and reach sound decisions in accordance with rules, regulations and MAAC policies and procedures.

  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of agency documents and records.
  • Work effectively independently without close supervision.
  • Organize, set priorities, take initiative and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility.

  • EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATION High School diploma or equivalent required Associate degree in Health and Human Services such as Psychology, Social Sciences, Chemical Dependency, strongly preferred Two years of experience working in a substance use disorder program Certified in one of the following drug and alcohol body / Agency (ACCBC, CADTP, CCAPP) preferred Bilingual / biliterate (English / Spanish) required VALUE-BASED BEHAVIORS Listens attentively to others.

  • Follows rules, regulations, and policies; positively contributes to implementing changes HEALTH STATUS Must have a physical examination, TB clearance and a drug screen by a doctor / clinic designated by MAAC as well as immunization records for influenza

  • BACKGROUND CLEARANCE All positions are subject to a background / education check, DMV check, NSOR, exclusion and debarment checks prior to hire and periodically throughout employment as required by various funding sources.
  • Note :

  • California Start law requires background criminal checks on anyone who works in a licensed childcare facility who is not a client.
  • Must have or obtain a current criminal background check clearance, signed criminal record statement, and signed Acknowledgement to Report Child Abuse form prior to the first day of employment.
  • TRANSPORTATION Must have and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, daily use of a personal, insured vehicle, and have and maintain a motor vehicle driving record acceptable to MAAC’s insurance carrier.
  • Incumbents will be enrolled in the California DMV Pull Program.
