Travel Sterile Processing Tech - $1,516 per week in Bethpage, NY

Job Title : Sterile Processing Technician Profession : Technician Specialty : Sterile Processing Duration : 8 Weeks Shift : Night Hours per Shift : 7.5 Hours Experience : 1.5 years experience accepted if tertiary experience; 2 years experience if not. License : N / A Certifications : Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD must not expire during term of assignment) High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must-Have : Ability to lift / carry 25 pounds. Manual dexterity, ability to stand, bend, lift, and / or reach for extended periods of time. Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) and follow oral and / or written instructions. Description : Shift time is 11 : 00 PM - 07 : 00 AM. Every other weekend is required. This is a large, busy state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center providing sterile processing services for multiple facilities. Facility also provides emergency services for the area. The technician will disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package sterile supplies according to specifications and / or manufacturer instructions while following department protocols. The technician will operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures. Adherence to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts is necessary. The technician will retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical areas for decontamination. Examining instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality is required. The technician should identify malfunctioning items, record related information, and promptly notify a supervisor or biomedical engineer. Assistance in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels is also required. Performing required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment is essential. Scrubs will be provided and must be laundered at the facility. Shoes, jewelry, hair, and beard must be covered. No nail polish is permitted.
