Job Summary

Manage and coordinate the operations of a unit or initiative of the university.

Based on the recent Proclamation : Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (H-1B) , VSU will not be sponsoring any new H-1B visa petitions until further notice.

Responsibilities

Typical Allocation of Duties :

Supervision of personnel - 30%

Supervise personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.

Manage and participate - 15%

Manage and participate in the daily operations of an assigned unit.

Implementation - 15%

Develop or assist with the implementation of policies and procedures, systems, and processes.

Researches new trends and developments - 15%

Research new trends and developments; presents recommendations as required.

Participate in planning and goal setting - 10%

Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of short-and long-range plans and goals.

Develop and implement projects and programs - 10%

Develop and implement projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.

Department representative - 5%

Represent the department at various meetings, and committees; promote existing and new programs and / or policies.

Supervisor Expectations :

Greek Life Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight and daily management of all Greek Life councils, with an emphasis on supporting and strengthening the College Panhellenic Council (CPC) and Interfraternity Council (IFC).
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, risk management standards, and national organizational expectations.
  • Serve as the primary advisor for CPC and IFC; attend weekly council meetings and offer guidance on recruitment, policy adherence, community development, and crisis response.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive Greek community by organizing leadership retreats, roundtables, and trainings that engage all Greek-letter organizations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with national headquarters, local alumni / ae advisors, and campus stakeholders.

Programming Experience

  • Provide leadership and support for campus-wide programming efforts including signature events and culturally relevant experiences that increase student engagement.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of Student Life events such as Welcome Week, Homecoming, Fire It Up Fridays, and Greek Week.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to develop co-curricular programs aligned with institutional goals and student interests.
  • Utilize assessment tools to evaluate event effectiveness and adjust planning based on student feedback and participation trends.
  • Leadership Development

  • Create and facilitate developmental opportunities for student leaders across Greek Life, Student Organizations, and the broader campus community.
  • Coordinate leadership workshops, retreats, and certificate programs focused on conflict resolution, communication, ethical decision-making, and identity-conscious leadership.
  • Integrate Blazer Ready competencies and co-curricular transcript initiatives into student leadership training.
  • Supervision

  • Directly supervise two Student Life Coordinators and student staff, overseeing workload allocation, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment with regular check-ins, coaching sessions, and clear performance benchmarks.
  • Ensure team responsibilities align with departmental goals and student development theories.
  • Required Qualifications

    Required Experience

    Bachelor's degree in a specified field and three (3) years of related work experience. Professional licensure, certification, and / or designation may be required in some areas.

    Proposed Salary

    $62,158
