Job description

EdgeCore is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in shaping the design and delivery of mission-critical infrastructure that supports some of today’s most demanding computing environments, including AI and cloud platforms. In this strategically important role, you’ll lead the mechanical design lifecycle and collaborate with experienced engineers across disciplines to develop scalable, efficient, and reliable systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

  • Partner closely with construction and operations teams to design mechanical systems that balance cost-effectiveness, long-term reliability, and environmental sustainability.
  • Direct the full mechanical design lifecycle—including early-stage planning, detailed technical documentation, construction supervision, and final commissioning—ensuring alignment with EdgeCore’s rigorous performance and quality standards.
  • Act as a trusted technical expert in client-facing engagements such as facility tours, proposal development, and customized engineering presentations.
  • Execute detailed engineering analyses, including :
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Psychrometric assessments
  • ASHRAE extreme annual design day evaluations
  • Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) calculations
  • Develop and refine mechanical engineering standards, design tools, and scalable methodologies that improve efficiency, innovation, and consistency across projects.
  • Review and approve key technical documents—including mechanical schematics, vendor submittals, and commissioning reports—to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate effectively with third-party consultants, contractors, and vendors to meet project timelines, quality benchmarks, and budget goals.
  • Attend design coordination meetings and perform site inspections to ensure construction is fully aligned with the mechanical design intent and quality expectations.
  • Lead the creation and evolution of design frameworks that support EdgeCore’s scalable, next-generation data center infrastructure vision.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams—including Development, Procurement, Sales, and Operations—to deliver fully integrated engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to EdgeCore’s innovation roadmap by participating in the development of new mechanical solutions and intellectual property initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and projects as needed to support team goals and evolving organizational priorities.

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
  • Minimum of 12 years of hands-on mechanical design and construction experience, with significant work in mission-critical and / or data center environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems tailored to data center performance, including cooling architectures and system redundancy.
  • Demonstrated success managing full-lifecycle mechanical projects—from concept to commissioning—at scale.
  • Strong familiarity with industry standards and codes such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and relevant local and federal building regulations.
  • Deep understanding of North American construction practices and mechanical engineering trends.
  • Proven analytical skills and experience conducting feasibility studies using engineering models and data-driven approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and other relevant mechanical design platforms.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, with flexibility to accommodate changing project and business requirements.

  • This is a full-time salaried position, including equity compensation and a performance-based annual bonus
  • This role requires in-office presence four days per week
  • We prefer this role is based in downtown Denver , with parking for the successful candidate paid by EdgeCore. We are also open to candidates who live within a reasonable commuting distance to either Mesa, AZ or Sterling, VA , or are open to relocating near one of these three locations.
  • Base salary range is $185,000-220,000, depending on experience
