Level 4 Data Center Tech (All-Shifts)

TEKsystems currently has a variety of Data Center Tech positions available for a large GPU Deployment project with our client in Mount Pleasant, WI. This consists of Level 2 Techs, Level 3 Techs, Level 4 Techs & Lead Techs. Looking for people who have some exposure in Data Centers or are interested in getting their foot into Data Center environments. Individuals who have knowledge and some exposure with cabling (fiber optic, copper, Cat5, Cat6, any), Servers, Switches, Routers, troubleshooting, etc. would be a great fit. Along with individuals that either currently hold or are pursuing certifications such as CompTIA Net+, Server+, Cisco certs, etc. In short, the shifts and top skills for each position is below. Please note, that the compensation on this job description is for Level 4 Tech positions, and other lower / higher skilled positions will be compensated differently. • A Side Day Shift : Sunday - Tuesday, Every other Wednesday 6a-6p

Job Brief : We are seeking a highly skilled Level 4 Data Center Technician to join our IT team. The Level 4 Data Center Technician will be responsible for the break-fix of GPUs, servers, network, and cabling, as well as ticket management (ITSM). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in landing fully populated GPU or network racks within a data center environment, including rack movement, baying, leveling, grounding, hot-air containment, and overhead cable containment trays. They should be familiar with interpreting BOMs to ensure all materials are accounted for and have a strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling technologies, including copper, fiber (SM, MM, MPO), routing, dressing, and connectors.

Responsibilities :

oMove servers and switches to required destinations for installation.

oInspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged.

oInstall servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps.

oEnsure all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards.

oDouble-check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up.

oInstall additional components needed (NIC, Drive, Memory).

oAssist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed.

oAudit servers and consumables.

oTroubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.

oOrder replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.

oUpdate firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.

oConfigure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.

oAssist network admins on any issues they are having with a server, including replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, changing out parts, and installing upgraded versions of those parts in servers.

oTemporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on the device.

oAssist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switches.

oDeploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

oPerform break-fix tasks, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.

oProvide advanced troubleshooting support and resolution of tickets.

oServe as the initial contact / liaison between team members and management.

oPrioritize and manage workload across the team.

oReview build documentation before projects and validate any questions or concerns.

oDirect build activities related to data center operations.

oEnsure projects are aligned with data center standards.

oProvide thought leadership to aid with growth across the program.

oManage multiple simultaneous projects with a high degree of stress within the work environment.

oMonitor project deadlines and provide status updates to project managers.

oEnsure compliance with safety measures and data center standards.

oDeploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

oPerform break-fix tasks related to GPUs, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.

This is a Contract position based out of Mount Pleasant, WI.

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $42.00 / hr.
