Position available in a Blood Cancer unit. The unit has 18 beds and 37 staff members. Night shift staffing includes one charge nurse without patient assignments and 3-5 RNs. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 3-4 : 1. Expected skill set includes compassion for oncology patients and adaptability to chronic patient care. Quick learning ability is essential due to the acute nature of the patient population. Preferred qualifications include experience with chemotherapy and biotherapy and step-down experience. Typical procedures performed on the unit include lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, and thoracentesis. Candidates must possess skills necessary to safely handle hazardous drugs and medication administration.
