Job description

Job Title

Responsible for daily supervision and direction of assigned nursing staff to provide quality care and services to facility residents in assigned areas.

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for resident care and staff accountability for assigned resident areas on a twenty-four (24) hour basis.
  • Supervises the daily work assignments and performance of assigned activities of the nursing staff, i.e., Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nurse Assistants.
  • Recommends the hiring, discipline, promotion and discharge of assigned nursing staff.
  • Determines the resident's level of care and re-evaluation, including family explanations and prepares necessary forms for the Bureau of Quality Control.
  • Works with resident's doctors and determining the need to notify same of any change in the resident's condition, etc.
  • Initiates residents care plans, including care plan updates for all residents.
  • Investigates and reviews incident and accident reports for residents and employees.
  • Prepares and implements employee performance evaluations.
  • Plans ongoing inservice education programs and on-unit orientation for employees.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Three or more years of nursing experience in all phases of nursing service responsibilities.
  • Work Environment & Physical Requirements

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include, hearing conversation in noisy and quiet environments, locating a sound source and differentiating among non-speech sounds, communicating through speech. Ability to adapt to changes in daily work hour and schedule. Initiate timely emergency resuscitation measures according to adult resuscitation and advanced life support protocols. Risk of blood borne pathogen exposure is considered high.
