POSITION PURPOSE : The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Coordinator serves as a lead for the area and plays a pivotal role in providing holistic student-centered support services to first-generation low-income and educationally disadvantaged students. Under the general direction of the Director of EOP the Coordinator is responsible for planning coordinating and implementing key student success initiatives including retention programming and transition support. The position requires the ability to work independently on complex assignments use sound judgment in problem-solving and provide guidance to students and staff. The Coordinator supports student academic achievement personal development and retention through proactive mentoring and coaching and collaboration with campus partners. The position also plays a vital role in the evaluation of services and helps ensure the alignment of EOPs mission with CSU and institutional goals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job-related and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional student services work. A masters degree in counseling Clinical Psychology Social Work or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : SEDENTARY WORK involves mainly sitting; minimal walking and standing; lifting light weight objects limited to 15 pounds.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
SCREENING : Only those applicants possessing experience most directly related to the immediate needs of the office will be invited to appear before a Qualifications Appraisal Board for the purpose of appraising training experience and interest in the position .
