A key responsibility is to establish rapport, trust, and meaningful relationships with students, creating a supportive environment that affirms their identities and enhances their overall campus experience.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching to individual students throughout their college experience by being knowledgeable of academic policies, procedures, and campus support offices.
  • Provide customized group training, assistance, and coaching targeted at the students' needs or areas of interest. Topics during coaching sessions may cover items such as academic success, where to go for additional services, and student leadership opportunities.
  • Develop a student success plan for each connected student or referral for support that includes short term and long-term goals aimed at supporting a student's academic, personal, and professional success.
  • Design and deliver innovative, evidence-based programs, and interventions to engage priority student populations. Programming may include support and collaboration with student-initiated affinity groups, co-curricular events, skill development, identity recognition activities, experiential learning opportunities, and initiatives tied to closing the equity gaps.
  • Assist in managing the budget and funding for student inclusion related activities, programs, and initiatives, ensuring resources are effectively allocated and used in alignment with student needs.
  • Serve as a resource for students, empowering them to engage with faculty, and utilize key resources (Self-Service, Navigate360, and Canvas) and student services such as advising, financial aid, career services, registration and records, and access and disability services.
  • Promote and cultivate a highly collaborative working environment between academic and administrative departments (e.g., Admissions and Recruitment, Records and Registration, Academic Advising, Financial Aid, Testing Center, etc.) to address the needs of and support of marginalized and minoritized student populations.
  • Work in conjunction with institutional liaisons in improving access to student assistance, resources, and interventions.
  • Enhance opportunities and accessibility to educational resources and information, and promote fair treatment for all as defined by the college's equity definition.
  • Partner with the Student Resource Center team to assist student organizations with diverse needs, and other student-led initiatives by fostering opportunities for personal development and engagement.
  • Build partnerships and become familiar with community agencies to address the needs of priority populations as defined by the college.
  • Provide direction to student employees
  • Actively participate in department, division, campus-wide committees, councils, and workgroups as requested or assigned.
  • Regularly review, assess, and refine programming, services, and activities to support the retention and success of marginalized and minoritized student populations, using data analysis to guide decision-making and improvements.
  • Assist students via scheduled appointments, drop-in visits, email correspondence, and other approved communication channels.
  • Maintain accurate tracking data and notes within Navigate360 for each referred student, assisting in the development of individualized success and completion.
  • Prepare program reviews and periodic reports as assigned, and develop internal review processes to monitor participation, evaluate the effectiveness of programming, and adjust strategies based on data trends and student feedback.
