Behavior Interventionist

Overview

Beach Cities Learning is looking for a Full-Time Behavior Interventionist for our location in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Learn Academy is an innovative non-public school program, which serves the educational needs of special education students between the ages of 6 to 22. Designed to provide a stimulating, supportive, academically challenging and therapeutic program for students struggling in the public school arena. We provide students with the tools needed to be successful in school and life.

Responsibilities

As a Behavior Interventionist, you’ll be a part of a school-based special education team. You’ll provide assistance to the teacher in the implementation of all program components such as : Clinical Program, Instruction, Special Education Services and Physical Fitness. You will be supported by a mentor, veteran behavior technicians and an on-site administrator manager.

• Provide direct instructional support to individual and / or groups of students and monitor ability to follow directions and behavior.
• Ride in school van to pick children up in the morning and drop them off in the afternoon.
• Collect data regarding student(s) reaching goals / objectives as directed by licensed staff. Assist staff in maintaining charts and other records related to student(s) progress.
• Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff and provide the student with opportunities to practice.
• Assist student in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of licensed staff.
• Implement district approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
• Perform other related duties as assigned and required by the building administration and licensed staff.

Note : This is a 10-month position for the 2024-2025 school year.
