Strategic Purchasing Manager

Position Overview :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Strategic Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations across materials, equipment, and subcontractor sourcing. This role is responsible for driving cost-effective purchasing strategies, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of resources to support project execution and budget adherence.
Key Responsibilities :
Procurement Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project timelines and cost goals
- Collaborate with project managers to forecast material and equipment needs
- Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for alternative sourcing
Vendor & Supplier Management
Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified suppliersNegotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure the best valueManage vendor performance, reliability, and compliancePurchasing & Inventory Control
Oversee purchasing processes to ensure timely ordering and deliveryTrack and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstockCoordinate with warehouse and logistics to streamline distributionBudget & Cost Control
Monitor procurement budgets and track spend against targetsDrive cost savings through strategic sourcing and process improvementsEnsure procurement practices support broader financial objectivesCompliance & Documentation
Maintain accurate procurement records (POs, contracts, invoices)Ensure adherence to internal policies, safety standards, and industry regulationsProvide regular reporting on purchasing metrics and vendor performanceTeam Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Lead and mentor purchasing staff to ensure operational efficiencyPartner with construction, operations, and leadership teams to support project successParticipate in planning meetings and resolve product or delivery issues proactivelyQualifications : Education :
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Construction Management, or related fieldExperience :
5+ years in procurement or purchasing, preferably in construction or related industriesProven experience in vendor negotiations, cost control, and contract managementSkills & Tools :
Strong understanding of procurement processes and inventory systemsExcellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement platforms (e.g., Sage 300 CRE)Familiarity with construction materials, equipment, and supplier standardsCertifications (Preferred) :
CPSM, CPPB, or other relevant supply chain certificationsWork Conditions & Benefits :
