FinOps Cloud Engineer

Position Summary
A large enterprise organization is seeking a FinOps Cloud Engineer to join its Cloud Platform Engineering team. This role will be instrumental in driving cloud cost optimization, governance, and automation across a multi-cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP, and Oracle Cloud). The FinOps Cloud Engineer will collaborate with infrastructure, DevOps, and finance teams to deliver data-driven insights, implement tooling and automation for cost management, and ensure efficient, scalable, and secure use of cloud resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Cloud Platform, DevOps, and Finance teams to establish and maintain FinOps best practices for cost visibility, forecasting, and optimization.
- Monitor and analyze cloud spend, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost savings across AWS, Azure, GCP, and Oracle Cloud.
- Implement automated tagging, chargeback, and governance policies to ensure accurate cost allocation and accountability.
- Develop and manage dashboards and reports to communicate usage, budget adherence, and efficiency improvements to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to right-size resources, manage reservations and savings plans, and improve overall utilization.
- Support the design and implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates and automation workflows using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates.
- Partner with Security and Compliance teams to ensure cost efficiency aligns with governance and security standards.
- Contribute to multi-cloud strategy initiatives including migration planning, vendor evaluations, and tool integrations.
- Stay current with FinOps tooling, cloud provider updates, and industry benchmarks to continuously enhance the organization’s cloud cost management maturity.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, FinOps, or Infrastructure Operations roles.Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure cost management tools (e.g., Cost Explorer, Budgets, Azure Cost Management + Billing).Strong understanding of FinOps principles, cloud pricing models, and budgeting / forecasting processes.Familiarity with Kubernetes, serverless, and containerized workloads and their cost implications.Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to extract and analyze usage data or implement automated cost controls.Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Looker) for building FinOps dashboards.Understanding of infrastructure-as-code and CI / CD tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.Preferred
FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or equivalent certification.Experience with multi-cloud environments including GCP and Oracle Cloud.Background working in large enterprise or multi-business-unit environments.Exposure to governance frameworks and security cost controls.
