Responsibilities Position is in the Surgical Acute Med / Surg unit within an acute care setting Unit has 63 beds with 49 private and 9 observation beds Patient population includes post-op surgical, trauma, and overflow medical cases Nurse to patient ratios are 4-5 : 1 on days and 5-6 : 1 on nights Common responsibilities include wound care, dressing changes, IV therapy, pain management, managing drains and NGs, and administering TPN Heparin is the only titratable drip; no vents used, but CPAP and high flow devices are managed by RNs Some patients are on telemetry monitored by Phillips equipment with central monitor techs Unit uses Epic EMR and offers a dedicated 12-hour orientation shift for EMR training Shifts are 12 hours, nights (1930-0730); block scheduling may be considered by approval Required to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) Travelers are first to float to similar level units 2 preceptor shifts plus one 12-hour professional and Epic orientation shift provided Charge RNs are present and do not take patient assignments; 24 / 7 house supervisor on-site PCTs assist with vitals, ADLs, and have defined patient ratios by shift Dress code allows for any color scrubs Must rotate every other holiday as part of the schedule No call or standby requirement Travelers do not self-schedule No COVID vaccine requirement for this position Local rate applies to clinicians residing within 50 miles Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of consideration BLS (AHA) certification required and must be active Minimum 1 year recent Med / Surg experience Strong post-op care and critical thinking skills required Experience with Epic EMR preferred Ability to manage CPAP, high flow, and common Med / Surg procedures Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-641022.
