Job Description

Whitman Intern Grant (WIG) Eligible Triple Point Internship

Agency : Akin

Program : Triple Point Walla Walla

Location : 1612 Penny Lane, Walla Walla

Duration : Summer Term (May-August)

Supervisor : Cedar Green, Program Specialist for Triple Point Walla Walla

Program Description :

Akin’s Triple Point program provides weekly support groups in Walla Walla, Washington for 2SLGTBQ+ middle and high school students (and supportive friends) ages 13-18 and is the only program of this type in the region. Youth come from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

Triple Point’s weekly support groups and seasonal events are facilitated by an employee and volunteer or intern. We welcome input from youth and have unstructured time for them to socialize and build community together. We have programming and topics we cover throughout the year. Group rules and norms are developed organically through these interactions and have resulted in a safe harassment-free space essential for the program’s success. The primary goals of the program are to decrease isolation and increase connections, foster deeper self-understanding, and build a connection to community. Additionally, it aims to help youth develop connections with supportive community partners, foster self-acceptance, better understand their identities and history, and enhance their overall well-being.

This is an unpaid internship. Whitman Internship Grant (WIG) eligible applicants are encouraged to apply for the Whitman Internship Grant to support their internship. Successful applicants will receive safety training, an orientation, in-person feedback after every group, and an evaluation at the conclusion of the internship.
