DESCRIPTION OF POSITION / DUTIES :
All Points is seeking a trained and certified Lead Generator Technician (GT). The GT shall be “on-call” 24 / 7 to supporting the “campus-wide” generator plant system for a Federal Agency in Washington, DC area. The lead technician shall possess certified training as listed below.
Motor and Turbine (MTU) certified training in the following areas :
Design and function of Advanced Diesel Engineer Controller (ADEC)
Service and Application Module (SAM)
DiaSys and service tools
Replacement of components
Successful completion of MTU certified GEN I and GEN II courses
Five years of demonstrated experience with installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operations of generators ranging from 5kW to 2500kW capacity The lead generator technician performs a variety of skilled tasks in maintaining, repairing and modifying diesel electric generating equipment for standby and portable generators. Work includes servicing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engine driven electric generators and related equipment. Investigates, diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs diesel generator problems.
As a preventive maintenance lead, performs :
checking for leaks, worn parts, taking oil samples; check battery and charger connections
adjusts, calibrates, and inspects the operation of auto transfer switch equipment (Generator Paralleling Switchgear).
conducts load tests as required.
prepares records of repairs, maintenance, parts ordered, and parts used
documents modifications to system.
performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Additional duties may include but are not limited to :
Inspects, repairs, services, and installs generators and associated control systems that run on diesel, natural gas, or propane combustion engines and provide electrical power.
Executes load bank tests to assess generator output rating and validate generator operational performance.
Re-wires, adjusts, and installs all components of the generator, engine, and switchgear. Modifies speed controls and voltage based on customer requirements.
Can move heavy objects with a pallet jack, forklift, and heavy equipment trucks
Uses hand tools including wire strippers, soldering guns, infrared meter, and other power tools to make repairs.
Ensures that the service truck is equipped with needed parts and tools to complete planned repair of generators in the field.
Adheres to all health and safety guidelines and procedures in completing repairs and maintenance. EDUCATION :
High School diploma or equivalent

SKILLS / CERTIFICATIONS :
Active, current, and fully adjudicated US DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility is required. Unfortunately, candidates that do not have a TS Clearance are not eligible

SECURITY CLEARANCE :
Active, current, and fully adjudicated US DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility is required. Unfortunately, candidates that do not have a TS Clearance are not eligible.
