Maintenance Specialist
ERS is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to perform highly complex (senior-level) maintenance tasks such as minor repairs, and assist with renovation and alteration of complex building systems for the Maintenance Services Section of the Operations Support Division. Works under the limited direction of the Maintenance Superintendent with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Performs inspection, maintenance, and repair work on agency facilities, including light fixtures, ceiling tile, furniture, equipment, painting, mechanical equipment, electrical, plumbing, hardware, windows, roof drains, and HVAC.
- Performs special services such as coordinating special set-ups for meetings, moving office furniture, equipment and supplies.
- Performs duties as Safety Officer; providing first response or coordinating emergency personnel access.
- Participates in the installation, calibration, maintenance and repair of building automation control equipment and systems to achieve better HVAC system effectiveness.
- Inspects buildings, equipment and grounds on a daily basis, recognizes needed repairs and reports location and condition.
- Maintains, repairs, and installs modular furniture systems.
- Maintains an orderly and safe work environment particularly in the warehouse and dock areas. Coordinates work of outside contractors and advises management on proposed or ongoing projects.
- Trains permanent or temporary maintenance staff, including other team members, and supervises employee's work on building project.

May handle key issuance, locksmith services, and perform back-up security work.May oversee custodial contractors ensuring all areas are cleaned.May assist in compiling and analyzing data, in making calculations and preparing reports.May provide internal and external pick-up and delivery services.May inspect and accept freight deliveries.May assist with processing mail.May assist co-workers with job duties as needed.May serve as a lead worker providing direction to others.May provide direction to others and / or supervise contractors.May assume role of lead worker on certain work assignments.Performs other duties as assigned.Required minimum qualifications :
Four (4) years' "hands on" work experience in building maintenance and repair work. One year of related vocational, technical or trade school training in a relevant field may substitute for one year of required experience.Three (3) years' experience providing customer service.One (1) year of experience using MS Outlook (for email).Preferred qualifications :
Prefer experience in the operation and maintenance of commercial electrical and mechanical equipment.Prefer related vocational or trade school training.Prefer experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Software, Building Automation Software, Excel, and Microsoft Word.Completion of Occupational Safety and Health Act - 10 hour certification preferred.All applications should contain complete job history entries, which includes job title, dates of employment, name of employer, supervisor's name and phone number and a description of duties performed.
