Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences seek a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist (ranks available : Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Weirton and Wheeling, West Virginia and will also provide remote services.

Duties : The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications : Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed an ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program, as well as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified / eligible in MFM by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences was established to advance the health and wellbeing of the women of West Virginia and surrounding region. Our faculty are nationally respected, board certified, and committed to providing quality healthcare services to all women; educating healthcare providers; and conducting research to advance our understanding of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

We are recognized for our care of women with high-risk pregnancies and advanced Gynecologic problems. Our high-risk pregnancy physicians are backed-up by the largest NICU in the state, while our gynecologic surgeons are trained in advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgery.

Our experts are committed to improving the health of women and babies and transforming their medical care. Our physicians provide multidisciplinary, integrated clinical services based on leading research on women's health and gender-specific care.

Our experts work together to develop a treatment plan specific to each patient's unique situation. The WVU Medicine Maternal-Fetal Care Team uses a coordinated approach to help women experiencing high-risk pregnancies.

The services we provide include :

• Care and counseling before pregnancy begins (preconception care) for women who have increased medical, surgical, or genetic risks
• Integrated care for chronic conditions during pregnancy including cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia and hypertensive disorders, diabetes or endocrine disorders, gestational diabetes, kidney disease, infectious diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, and rheumatologic diseases
• Obstetric complications including preterm labor and premature birth, multiple gestation, fetal growth disorders, and recurrent pregnancy loss

Brian Casey, MD, joined the WVU Medicine team in March 2024. Dr. Casey came with an extensive background in high-quality healthcare and a commitment to improving care for women in West Virginia and beyond.
