Job description

Position : Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering

Effective Date : August 17 2026 (Fall Semester)

Salary Range : The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary is $74652 to $158688 / year; $6221 to $13224 / per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $103008 to $106008 / per year $8584 to $8834 / per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science

Required Qualification :

  • Ph.D. in Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or a closely related field. Areas of expertise may include but not limited to Networks and Systems Internet of Things (IoT) Embedded and Cyber-Physical Systems Systems-on-Chip Computer Systems and Architecture Networking and Communications Hardware / Software Co-Design and Systems Integration and their applications in AI Robotics and Autonomous Systems. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1 2026.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Computer Engineering
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and other related scholarly / creative activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population including low socioeconomic and first-generation students

Preferred Qualifications :

  • At least two years of teaching experience in undergraduate and / or graduate level courses in Computer Engineering or any related areas
  • At least one year of Postdoctoral experience especially in the following areas : Networks and Systems Internet of Things (IoT) Embedded and Cyber-Physical Systems Systems-on-Chip Computer Systems and Architecture Networking and Communications Hardware / Software Co-Design and Systems Integration and their applications in AI Robotics and Autonomous Systems
  • Experience successfully working with populations demographically and / or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
  • Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
  • Duties :

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Engineering and conduct laboratory experiments. Instruction in the Department of CECS is primarily in-person. (Mode of instruction may include in-person hybrid online and / or any combination thereof.)
  • Contribute to the development assessment and continuous improvement of the Computer Engineering curriculum
  • Engage in sustained research and scholarly activities that result in peer-reviewed publications and external funding
  • Advise and mentor students to support their academic and professional growth
  • Provide service to the department college university and broader community
