Carolina Outreach is seeking a Forensic Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) Peer Support Specialist who provides support advocacy and mentorship to individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders who are involved in the criminal justice system.
Build Your Purpose.
As a Forensic ACT Peer Support Specialist you would use your lived experience with behavioral health challenges and justice system involvement to build trust and guide individuals through recovery and reintegration into the community. This role emphasizes justice system navigation reentry support and coordination with legal and behavioral health services to reduce recidivism and promote long-term stability.
Position Highlights :
Provide peer support mentorship and advocacy to individuals with behavioral health needs and criminal justice involvement.
Assist clients in navigating the legal system including compliance with court probation or parole requirements.
Support reentry and recovery efforts by helping clients access housing employment and behavioral health services.
Collaborate with law enforcement probation officers and community partners to promote diversion and treatment alternatives to incarceration.
Participate in FACT team meetings and document client interactions in accordance with program protocols and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Certification as a Peer Support Specialist and at least two years of sustained recovery from mental health or substance use challenges
Lived experience with criminal justice involvement (incarceration probation or other legal system engagement) and demonstrated stability in the community.
