Purpose of the Position
The purpose of the Radiologic Technologist at Bluffton is to acquire high-quality medical images in multiple modalities under the supervision of a Radiologist, employing best practices in patient safety and ALARA principles, while providing exceptional service to all customers.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Uses two (2) patient identifiers to accurately identify patients, images, and related paperwork.
- Selects proper, established techniques and protocols, tailoring them to individual patient needs while complying with all regulatory guidelines.
- Completes all required documentation, including exam history and paperwork per BVHS and Imaging department policies.
- Prepares and maintains equipment, workspaces, and supplies to ensure readiness for patient care.
- Follows BVHS safety and infection control practices, reporting potential hazards.
- Practices ALARA principles by using time, distance, shielding, and collimation to minimize radiation exposure, and employs positioning aids as needed.
- Complies with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
- Uses scripting and communication skills to ensure patient understanding, safety, comfort, and privacy; maintains a friendly and courteous demeanor.

Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Licensed by the State of Ohio as a Radiologic Technologist (ODH)BLS Certification within 30 days of hireAdherence to BVHS radiation safety policiesOn-call availability within 30 minutes of contactStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development principles, and assessing patient data accordingly.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in radiography, computed tomography, and / or mammography is preferred but not required.Physical Demands
This role involves physical activity including walking, lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, climbing, and working above shoulder level. Corrected vision and hearing are required, along with excellent coordination and dexterity. The ability to communicate effectively and work independently is essential. This position has potential occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
