Resource Scheduler I
Duration : Through 12 / 01 / 2026, with potential extension based on performance and business needs
Location : Flint, MI (Onsite, 5 days / week)
Initial Assignment : First 4 months reporting to Saginaw (Hybrid -4 days onsite, Wednesdays remote)
Position Overview
The Resource Scheduler I supports Gas Distribution Field Operations by preparing, coordinating, and scheduling all work assigned to gas distribution crews. This role ensures that work packages are complete, compliant, and ready for execution, while aligning with required timelines, permits, materials, and third-party services. The position involves significant coordination with internal departments, municipal partners, storeroom staff, field leadership, and external contractors.
This role includes a comprehensive 4-6 month training period consisting of structured learning and extensive peer shadowing. The position requires full onsite presence in Flint, with required in-person Friday meetings that may involve occasional travel.
Key Responsibilities
Scheduling & Work Preparation
- Prepare and schedule all gas distribution work according to compliance dates and departmental timelines.
- Plan work a minimum of 4 weeks in advance, coordinating permits, municipal notifications, third-party services (e.G., welders, traffic control), materials, and other job requirements.
- Create and organize complete electronic distribution work packets, including permits, job documentation, and all necessary information required by field crews.
- Submit and manage MISS DIG tickets for all assigned work.
Coordination & Communication
Collaborate with storeroom personnel to ensure materials and parts are ordered, available, and ready for use on scheduled projects.Work closely with internal and external customers to gather job requirements and ensure accurate handoff to field teams.Participate in daily morning and afternoon operations calls with field leadership and other stakeholders.Lead pre-handoff review meetings with field leaders to confirm readiness of all scheduled work.Conduct the official weekly Friday work handoff in person with field supervisors.Operational Planning & Forecasting
Support both upstream project planning and downstream project closeout activities.Forecast workload and recommend overtime needs to field operations leaders based on weather, workloads, and project priorities.Use ISchedule to build and manage schedules in alignment with operational requirements and resource availability.Required Skills & Qualifications
High level of organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, especially under changing conditions or last-minute adjustments.Excellent customer service and communication skills, both internal and external.Ability to quickly assess job needs and anticipate required resources, permits, and coordination steps.Experience with scheduling software (ISchedule experience highly desirable).MISS DIG experience, including submitting MISS DIG tickets, strongly preferred.SAP experience desirable.Utility or field operations background preferred.High school diploma required;degree not mandatory.Meet Your Recruiter
