  • This is a hybrid position, and candidates must be able to work four days per week in our San Francisco office.

    YOUR CAREER OPPORTUNITY

    MEDA is seeking a Senior Analyst to join the Data, Analysis, and Planning (DAP) team under the supervision of the Vice President of Data, Analysis, and Planning. This team member will be responsible for two core domains of our team’s work, program evaluation and organizational planning.

    Specifically, you will :

    Provide research / evaluation support to each of MEDA’s departments / programs

    • Support development and implementation of departmental Evaluation Plans with each of our six programs
    • Spearhead and support the completion of shorter-term evaluation projects stemming from adhoc requests or grant-related requirements
    • Conduct community-based needs assessments to inform program development
    • Provide evaluation technical assistance, capacity building, training, and thought partnership to non-evaluators
    • Design data collection instruments (surveys, focus group protocols, interactive activities, etc.), and facilitate / coordinate primary data collection activities
    • Conduct quantitative analyses of primary data, from MEDA’s client Salesforce database and other original datasets; as well as external demographic and socioeconomic data
    • Facilitate focus groups, key informant interviews, etc and conduct qualitative (thematic, observational, ethnographic, etc.) analyses of MEDA’s programs and community needs
    • Access publicly available, external data sources and provide analysis and interpretation to support use by various departments
    • Develop evaluation deliverables and other shareable materials (reports, data dashboards, research briefs, presentations, etc.) that summarize program evaluation findings, with ongoing collaboration and input from program staff
    • Share evaluation findings with MEDA staff and external stakeholders in order to drive continuous program improvement, coalition-building, advocacy, fundraising, etc.
    • Support grant proposal writing and data requests
    • Maintain MEDA’s compliance with external review and research boards, such as IRB approval and authorization to conduct research with SFUSD
    • Support ongoing development and maintenance of MEDA’s data-driven planning infrastructure
    • Maintain updates to MEDA’s Results-Based Accountability (RBA) Plans, which track year-to-year data around a set of priority performance measures and population-wide indicators that help us assess our progress towards our long-term goals
    • Facilitate staff from all MEDA departments in yearly RBA “Turn the Curve” activities, in which the Evaluation team guides staff through year-to-year data visualizations to drive collective decision-making around our priority areas for action the following year
    • Update templates and planning materials for departments to develop their team Action Plans at the end of each calendar year, and facilitate staff through creation of the next year’s planning documents
    • Ensure alignment between MEDA’s Strategic Plan, RBA Plans, yearly Action Plans, and program-level evaluation plans
    • Promote organization-wide understanding of MEDA’s planning matrix, including development and presentation of learning materials, to invite deeper engagement and orient new staff members
    • Draft meeting agendas, presentation slide decks, group activities, and other documents necessary to facilitate group planning efforts
    • Support continuous quality improvement efforts alongside program teams
    • Contribute to organizational compliance and risk management efforts that pertain to data
    • Drive other refinements or additions to the organizational planning infrastructure as needed
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Professional background

    • Minimum of two years of work experience in program evaluation, community-based research, organizational consulting, or other data-driven fields
    • Prior professional experience in programs, initiatives, projects, etc. that support the wellbeing of low-income and marginalized communities, especially those involving the input / participation of community members
    • Graduate degree in social sciences, public administration, ethnic studies, or other related field preferred. We also welcome candidates with a bachelors degree and 4+ years commensurate work experience.
    • Skillsets

    • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
    • Knowledge of data privacy guidelines with strong commitment to data integrity
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience in meeting facilitation around collective decision-making, both in remote and in-person environments
    • Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and / or Google Suite platforms, with technical proficiency in building spreadsheet formulas and data visualizations
    • Ability to navigate large population-level datasets such as the American Community Survey (ACS) or California Health Interview Survey (CHIS)
    • Fluency in Spanish is desired but not required
    • Preferred, but not required :

    • Prior experience in providing adult instruction and / or technical assistance
    • Knowledge of Results-Based Accountability (RBA) practices
    • Knowledge of Salesforce CRM platforms
    • Knowledge of Tableau data visualization software, GIS, or advanced statistical software (SPSS, R, STATA, etc.)
