Travel Nurse RN - Labor & Delivery - $3,094 per week in Redding, CA

Unit includes 19 postpartum beds, 12 labor and delivery rooms, 2 operating rooms, and 1 post-anesthesia care unit. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, NRP, and FHM (either intermediate or advanced acceptable). Nurse-to-patient ratios follow state guidelines and are typically 1 : 4 for postpartum and 1 : 1 for labor and delivery. Charting system utilized is Cerner & Fetal Link for surveillance. Charge nurse is a clinical supervisor most days with a staff team lead. A nurse manager is available Monday to Friday. Nurse aides are not present in the unit, as OB technicians will cover the desk and scrub when necessary. Weekend requirements include working 3 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule. Shifts are from 6 : 45 PM to 7 : 15 AM for both days and nights. Floating may involve pediatric patients, taking the same patients as on postpartum, and NICU assignments are limited to feeders and growers if experienced. Floor-specific orientation lasts 2 to 3 shifts, depending on experience circulating in the operating room. Common diagnoses include both low and high-risk deliveries, with babies that may require immediate surgery transferred out if congenital defects are known. Peak times for patient load are in July and October. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. No telemetry is required for this position. Pharmacy and respiratory therapy services are available 24 / 7. Laborist coverage is provided 24 / 7 for in-house physician support. Vents are not utilized as a hospitalist or intensivist is available if necessary.
