Cooley Dickinson Medical Group offers consultation and treatment for a broad spectrum of adult neurological conditions, including conditions of the brain, spinal cord and central and peripheral nervous systems. Conditions of the brain and body ranging from headaches to dementia to neuropathy and muscular dystrophy can be diagnosed and treated with precision and compassionate, personalized care.

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our outpatient clinic located at 22 Atwood Drive, 2nd Floor, Northampton, MA 01060. The clinic hours are Monday-Friday from 8 : 30am to 5 : 00 pm. Weekly schedules will consist of 36 hours of clinical, patient-facing time and 4 hours of administrative time. The APP will see a mix of neurological diagnoses and will primarily be responsible for follow-up appointments and will progress to new patient evaluations.

Job Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and / or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions

• Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and / or procedural setting.
• Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
• Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
• Performs bedside procedures as are appropriate to the patient population.
