Position Summary :
Working in accordance with the established Everstand Policies and Procedures and the Maryland Board of Nursing to provide administrative and clinical services in the dual role of a Medical Office Assistant and Certified Medication Technician. The Medical Office Assistant / Certified Medication Technician will manage and monitor an efficient Health Suite which includes : administration of medications; coordination of routine medical and dental care; health education for youth; and all administrative tasks.
Essential Functions :
Administrative Duties
- Answer the telephone, direct patient and staff flow of traffic, and assist in relaying medical information to staff.
- Arrange and communicate with staff for all in house and outpatient medical appointments / services to include : hospital emergencies and / or admissions, medical appointments, laboratory services, vaccine clinics, x-rays, and ultrasounds.
- Schedule appointments, accompany youth on specialty medical appointments, and communicate provider's questions / concerns to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
- Produce weekly resident appointment list and ensure all staff are aware via email and hard copies in staff mailboxes.
- Audit, track, and schedule annual physical, vision, and bi-annual dental appointments.
- Update and file patient medical records, including retrieval and copies of medical records necessary for staff reports and outpatient services.
- Organize and maintain residential medical charts.
- Assist with filling out insurance forms for medical billing.
- Handle correspondences, bookkeeping, and assist with billing and coding.
- Inventory and maintenance of all administrative and medical supplies and medications.
- Data entry of medically pertinent information, create spreadsheets, formulate and implement policies.
- Evaluate productivity and develop plans to improve efficiency.
- Oversees patient and staff satisfaction through excellent customer service, communication, teamwork, safe practices, attendance, punctuality, and strong leadership
- Assist with Certified Medication Technician initial training and renewal process, including completion on purchase orders.
- Maintenance of confidential files.
- Complies with regulatory and legislative requirements

- Maintains requirements for Certified Medication Technician as necessary

Clinical Duties
Responsible for preparation of treatment room(s) for patients.Assist the providers and / or nurses during exams with drawing labs, changing dressing, removal of sutures, etc.Explain treatment procedures to patients and assist with education.Instruct patients about medications and special diets.Medication administration implementing the six (6) Rights of Medication Administration.Medication administration with basic knowledge of medications and their use, drug reactions, and methods of administrations under the supervision of a Delegating Registered Nurse.Medication administration consisting of : observing the youth for changes in physical conditions and / or behaviors, reporting these observations to the Delegating Registered Nurse as soon as possible, receiving the prescribed medication, storing the medication safely, ensuring medications are taken, recording information promptly and correctly on appropriate forms under the supervision of a Delegating Registered Nurse.Report medical emergencies immediately to designated personnel.Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent health information to assure youths' rights are protected in adherence to HIPAA of Privacy and Security.Takes vital signs and / or observes patients to collect information and prepares report or notifies Delegating Registered Nurse.Gives direct patient care such as basic first aid.Keep work area(s) free of hazardous conditions to assure that all established safety rules and regulations are followed at all time in adherence with Infection Control Standards.Advocate on behalf of the youths' best interest and collaborate with their treatment team to ensure their health and safety.Participate every 45 days in education and assessment of skills by the Delegating Registered Nurse, along with maintaining requirements for a Certified Medication Technician as necessary.Complete CDC and OSHA training for hazardous waste, TB management, and blood borne pathogen standards.Non Essential Functions :

Work Environment :
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
In the nature of being at a residential and school living environment there may be times you experience conditions in which challenging behavior can be exhibited from our youth to include but not limited to, physical agitation, physical violence and / or emotion outburst.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work :
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. Eligible for flex schedule. Not essential for inclement weather.
Travel :
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree, Credentialed Medical Assistant, or Certified Medical Administrative AssistantActive certification as a Maryland Certified Medication Technician without disciplinary infractions or willing to obtainPreferred Education and Experience
