Schedule : 4 days on, 4 days off
Job Summary
Watco's New Johnsonville Terminal handles primarily dry bulk products (petroleum coke, rock salt, and titanium ore). As a Deckhand, you will assist with removing and resetting barge covers, climbing in and out of barges, operating a skid steer to move materials, and railcar discharging.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Must maintain regular, dependable attendance and a high level of performanceAbility to work outside the majority of the time and withstand extreme weather conditionsAbility to use ladders to access bargesAbility to work near waterRemove and reset barge coversSecure and assist in moving barges as neededCommunicate with other team members using a two-way radioFollow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on scheduleRead, write, and communicate in English & understand basic mathLearn from directions, observations, and mistakes and apply procedures using good judgmentWorking knowledge of Watco Safety and Operating principlesThe primary function of the Deckhand is to assist personnel in safely and effectively performing all required duties / tasks by maintaining all mechanical operations at the transload stationsPerform structural inspections as requiredMonitor equipment for SAFETY and ENVIRONMENTAL compliancePerform maintenance on all equipmentResponsible for the operation as it relates to pipelines, compressors, auxiliary equipment, engines, pump stations, pumps, valves, and other related equipmentEnsure the cost-effective and efficient performance of all engines, pumps, and associated equipment at the compressor stations and pipelinesComplete required inspections per shiftComplete all applicable documentation and recordkeepingProvide support to supervisor as neededFront-line customer serviceMust be able to work with a team, take direction and follow work rules, as well as take on additional job responsibilities as needed or assignedFlexibility required; ability to work days, nights, weekends, holidaysRequirements
High school diploma or equivalentGeneral knowledge of tools and mechanical background preferredA Valid Drivers License is preferred but not required for this position
