Unit Information : o Beds : 19 o Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years RN exp in ICU (Resource Team) o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team) ? Patient Types / Common Diagnoses : o Stroke, Heart Failure, Chest pain, Respiratory illness, Surgical and Trauma, SCI, Respiratory Failure patients requiring high flow oxygen or ventilator, DSD, patient requiring fluid resuscitation / blood products, COPD, ETOH / CIWA, IVDA, Respiratory illnesses, GI Disorders and infections, Liver Failure, AKI / CKD ? Patient Ratios : o RN : 1 : 2-3 o CNA : 1 : 6-10 ? Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and / or Insurance : o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement) ? Skills required : o Will require ICU background but comfortability to work PCU, as this is a high acuity Stepdown that resembles a low acuity STICU with ratios of 1 : 2-3. o Endotool and insulin drip, vasoactive drips for bedside procedure and recovery, cardiac and Precedex drips, chest tubes, ventilator, monitoring patients on DSD, continuous BiPAP or CPAP o General RN skillset : Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain / tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion / management, etc), PCA pumps o Medication gtt management to include : Vasoactive drips, Precedex, Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF ? Support within the Department : o CNA ratios vary o Receptionist / HUC o Charge nurse, 24 / 7 may or may not have patients o Phlebotomy peripheral blood draws only o IV / VAT Team o Resource Nurse as available o RT, 24 / 7 o Hospitalist, 24 / 7 o Intensivist, 24 / 7 o Telemetry monitoring / tech?
