Job description

2025 Programs and Lessons now OPEN for Registration Wage Range : $28-$35 (Based on experience) We are a dynamic, passionate team dedicated to developing the next generation of downhill mountain biking champions. Our program provides world-class coaching, cutting-edge training, and an exciting competitive environment for riders of all levels. We’re seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Race Coach to join our team and help elevate our riders to new heights. As an Assistant Race Coach, you will work alongside the head race coach, Dave, to provide instruction, support, and mentorship to riders during training sessions, events, and races. You’ll be involved in all aspects of the program, from skill development to race day preparation, with a focus on providing high-energy, supportive coaching. RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in coaching and guiding athletes through skill development, technique, and race strategy. Travel with the team to all local, regional, and national downhill events and competitions as required. Support riders during race weekends with pre-race strategy, course inspection, and post-race analysis. Help manage training sessions, ensuring athletes’ safety, motivation, and technical development. Assist with team logistics, including travel arrangements, equipment preparation, and on-site coordination. Provide ongoing feedback and encouragement to riders, both individually and in group settings. Maintain a positive, inclusive, and motivating environment that fosters growth, discipline, and sportsmanship. Assist with the setup and maintenance of bikes, ensuring they are always race-ready. Help promote the team’s values and maintain a professional image at events, on social media, and in all interactions. ROLE INCLUDES Approx. 30 - 40hrs / wk. Fun, passionate, long term, family-oriented working environment On-going professional development for your riding, coaching, and guiding QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Cycling BC Club Assistant training (or willing to obtain) Passion for downhill mountain biking and coaching athletes. Previous experience racing or coaching in downhill mountain biking (preferred). Strong understanding of downhill bike mechanics and race strategies. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing situations. Strong organizational skills, especially when it comes to travel and logistics. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to events across various locations. First Aid / CPR certification Positive attitude, team player, and willingness to learn. Overall bike nerd! TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS This position involves significant travel to races, training camps, and events throughout the season. Travel includes overnight stays, transportation of bikes and equipment, and working weekends and holidays during the peak season. Races include : Coast Gravity : April 25-27 Whistler (not announced yet but likely mid-June) Dunbar Series : July 11-20 Sun Peaks : July 25-27 Silverstar : Aug 1-3 Crankworx Whistler Mt.
