Summary :
The HR Generalist assists with the coordination and administration of human resources policies, practices, and programs. This position will provide a wide array of HR support, but primarily focuses on the day-to-day coordination and administration of all benefits and leave of absence related activities. This role also offers guidance on policies and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. As one of the key members of the Corporate HR team, the HR Generalist also supports recruiting, payroll, and employee relations functions when needed.
With approximately 900 employees working out of 22 locations, Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation is the nation’s largest manufacturer of metal roofing and building systems. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and is based out of our Sellersburg, IN corporate office.

You’ll be responsible for (but not limited to) :
- Administering various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel, specifically benefit and leave programs
- Confidentially fielding benefits and leave related questions and providing explanations and resolutions in a timely manner
- Processing and maintaining family and medical leaves as well as benefit-related program documentation such as short- and long-term disability claims, life claims, and workers comp
- Planning, coordinating, and administering annual open enrollment
- Reconciling medical claims and benefit-related invoices and performing financial analysis to effectively manage the various programs
- Assisting in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, such as maintaining the various state employee handbooks
- Ensuring the organization maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
- Coordinating various HR activities with our 21 manufacturing branch locations
- Participating in the development and execution of HR team goals, projects, and objectives
- Maintaining a positive and collaborative working relationship with broker and vendors
The most qualified candidates will have :
At least 3 years of Human Resources Generalist experience with an emphasis on benefit and leave administrationAt least 2 years of multi-state HR experience in a 500+ employee workforce strongly preferredSuperb knowledge of benefit and leave laws and regulations coupled with compliant executionBachelors’ Degree in Business or related fieldPHR certification preferredExcellent verbal, written, and presentation communications skillsExperience with ADP Workforce Now HRIS systemAbility to maintain a high degree of confidentiality when dealing with employee matters and informationAbility to travel nationally as needed, potentially up to 20% of the timeWhat we can offer you :
