Travel Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit - $2,278 per week in Rapid City, SD

License : Registered Nurse licensed by the Board of Nursing Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have : EPIC experience Description : This unit has 64 beds spread across two floors. The unit has a mixed acuity environment, including Intermediate Care, Telemetry, and MedSurg patients. Surgical cases include urology, bowel obstructions, mass removals, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and general abdominal surgeries. Orthopedic cases involve total joints like knees, hips, shoulders, ortho trauma, and minor fractures. Neuro / Spine cases feature CVA / TIA with neurovascular intervention, post-op neurological patients, spinal surgeries, and seizure management. Wound care responsibilities include wound debridement and care for telemetry monitored patients. Patient ratios are 1 RN to 4 patients in PCU settings, even for MedSurg assignments. CNA support is available at a ratio of 1 CNA to 8 patients. The unit is supported by two charge nurses who do not take a patient load. Additional nursing support is provided during daytime hours. Charting is done using the EPIC system. Travelers may float to any Adult Inpatient Unit including Med Surg and Ortho / Neuro / Surgical areas, within scope of practice. Weekend rotations may require working up to four out of six weekends, which includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. No mandatory on-call time is required. Holiday time-off requests must be submitted prior to consideration. Blackout dates are set during specific periods in August due to local events. Compliance with pain scoring audits is required.
