Field Training Officer (Paramedic / EMT) - Atlanta, Georgia (27256)
Full-Time position. Work Schedule : AmeriPro EMS operates 24 / 7; schedule adjustments and training day assignments may be made by management.
Job Description
This position provides direct and indirect training of AmeriPro EMS personnel, including direct training during the Field Training and Evaluation Program and indirect training as a preceptor to Paramedic and EMT students. The role includes collecting, compiling, interpreting, and disseminating information from daily performance reports, assisting in in-service of new equipment and technology, continuing education, remedial training, and serving as a clinical resource for staff. Perform the functions of an EMS provider in daily operations when not involved in field training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively manage emergency and non-emergency scenes by assessing medical care needs, determining transportation decisions, administering medications as necessary, and ensuring a seamless transfer to hospital staff.
- Provide shift-level oversight for students and candidates with regular meetings, remediation, commendation, and quality assurance to maintain high standards of the Field Training Evaluation Program.
- Report regularly to the FTEP Coordinator and the Director of Clinical Services regarding field training.
- Provide on-shift training and in-service for co-workers.
- Assist with New Hire Testing.
- Ensure proper functioning of EMS vehicles, equipment, and inventory on the vehicle.
- Complete necessary state and local paperwork.
- Maintain a high professional standard through ongoing professional development.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent.At least 3 years of experience as a Paramedic or EMT, with at least 1 year of experience at AmeriPro EMS.Positive recommendation from a Field Supervisor and Director of Operations.Successfully complete the FTO Assessment Center.Maintain a rating of "Proficient" in all clinical measures.Significant knowledge of company policies, procedures, and the FTEP program.No disciplinary actions in the personnel file for the 24 months preceding appointment and none after appointment.Requirements After Appointment
Obtain Certification as a Nationally Certified EMS Educator within 1 year of appointment.Paramedics must attend and maintain PLS certification.Obtain Certification as a BLS Instructor within 1 year of appointment.Maintain proficiency in all clinical measures and satisfactory yearly evaluations.Obtain ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800; NIMS 300 and 400.Attend 80% of all scheduled trainings and meetings unless excused by the DCS.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Klop knowledge of Company SOPs and Policies; medical director approved protocols; local area maps; and National EMS Educational Standards.Ability to read and understand medical terminology; write reports and correspondence; effectively present information; and respond to questions regarding patient care and AmeriPro EMS operations.Proficiency with PCR reporting, email, MDT applications, and MS Office; ability to supervise, motivate, and train subordinates; strong verbal and written communication; represents AmeriPro EMS professionally.Physical Requirements
Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Frequently stand and walk; sometimes sit, climb, or balance. Occasionally lift up to 180 pounds and may lift up to 300 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment
EMS work conditions may involve inclement weather, hazardous conditions, psychological stressors, diseases, and other illnesses. Frequent interruptions, work pressure, and irregular schedules are expected.
