Locums NP / PA Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

ECU Health Physicians and The East Carolina Heart Institute at ECU Health Medical Center, located in Greenville, North Carolina, are seeking Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners to provide locums coverage in their Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Locums providers should have at least 2 years of ICU experience. Cardiovascular ICU experience is preferred.

Coverage needed :

January 2026- July 2026

Schedule

Day - 0630-1900 / Night 1830-0700

Coverage needed includes 84 hours every 2 weeks (12-hour shifts)

Rotating days, nights, and weekends

Job Highlights and Clinical Responsibilities

16-bed state of the art Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit

Established team with high quality 5 academic intensivists and 6 advanced practice providers

BLS and ACLS are required from AHA

• Ability to perform procedures including :

o Arterial Lines

o Central venous Lines / Dialysis Catheter

o Chest Tube Insertion

o Thoracentesis

o Intra - Aortic Balloon Pump removal

o Transvenous pacer / Swan Ganz placement

o Bronchoscopy

o Pacing wire removal

o Chest tube removal

o Feeding tube placement

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and diagnoses.

Develop treatment plans and order diagnostic tests.

Prescribe medications and therapies in line with scope of practice - provider must have a DEA license.

Collaborate with healthcare teams.

Provide patient education and follow-up care

The six-story, 375,000-square-foot tower houses clinical space, diagnostic services, and cardiovascular operating rooms. It has 120 beds for patients undergoing procedures for cardiac medicine, cardiac surgery, and vascular surgery.
