One of our companies is currently looking for an Underwriter in the United States .

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Underwriter to join a growing mortgage operations team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for reviewing conventional mortgage applications, ensuring compliance with all GSE and internal guidelines. Your decisions will directly impact the success of home purchase transactions by delivering accurate, timely loan reviews and partnering closely with loan processors and officers. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor team members and contribute to special projects that shape operational efficiency. Accountabilities :

  • Evaluate and underwrite conventional first mortgage loans, including appraisals and self-employed borrower financials.
  • Communicate underwriting decisions clearly to loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of agency guidelines, compliance standards, and internal policies.
  • Meet established turn-time expectations while balancing pipeline volume and loan prioritization.
  • Support special projects or product development initiatives within the underwriting department.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture aligned with company values.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience underwriting conventional mortgage loans.
  • At least 2 years of experience underwriting both appraisals and self-employed borrower profiles.
  • Active DE (Direct Endorsement) and SAR (Staff Appraisal Reviewer) certifications required.
  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume loan pipeline while maintaining quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable using Google Suite and learning new digital tools and systems quickly.
