Travelers are required to work 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period. The unit is a 36-bed medical-surgical / telemetry unit. The focus is on the care of a medical-surgical / telemetry population with an emphasis on orthopedic patients. Additional specialties include surgical oncology, general surgery, gynecological surgery, and oral maxillofacial surgery. Patient ratios are 1 : 5 during the day and 1 : 6 at night. Night ratios can occasionally be 1 : 7, depending on staffing. BLS certification is required for this position. ACLS, NIH, and CPI are preferred certifications. Two years of prior nursing experience is required. Experience in a large, urban hospital is essential. Travelers will float within the scope to meet facility needs. This may include floating to other departments as necessary. Each department has support staff including care techs, transport teams, paramedics, and LPNs. This facility is a 100% nicotine-free environment. All travelers must wear mandatory scrubs in designated colors. Additional information regarding scrubs will be provided upon confirmation. Travelers must go for labs within 48-72 hours of accepting an offer. All contracts must end on a Sunday.
