Educational Sign Language Interpreter

Seeking to hire an Educational American Sign Language Interpreter .This is a full-time contract and must be fluent in American Sign Language Interpreter.

Training and Educational Requirements :

Associates degree of deaf education, or classroom interpreting or similar or a EIPA score of 3.5

OR

Child of a Deaf Adult; Child;Family member;

AND

Fluent in English - American Sign Language Interpreting

Job Details

Experienced with classroom interpreting Provide sign language interpretive services as specified in the IEP.

Interpret information, lectures, discussion, classroom activities, school meetings, trainings, and conferences.

Adapts interpretations to the varying and diverse needs and abilities of students, and / or teachers and staff.

Understands the educational and learning challenges a deaf or hard of hearing studentsfaces on a daily basis.

Communicate directly with student and peers.

Prepare and study subject matter being taught or presented to ensure clear interpretation.

Interprets informal conversations with students and staff during unstructured time

Participate as a team member for planning and reviewing daily activities, attending in-services and information sharing for the purpose of optimizing the staff and student participation in the educational environment

Provide staff with information regarding the interpretation process as well as needs and concerns of individuals who are Deaf & Hard of Hearing Teachers for the purpose of creating a positive Deaf friendly climate

Collaborate with Teachers of the D / HH, other classroom teachers and other school staff to provide the optimum educational opportunities
