Contingent on course offerings, student demand, availability of funds, and staffing requirements. The position may be converted from 11 to 9 months or vice versa based on operational needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design, deliver, and assess instruction in Medical Laboratory Technology, including developing / updating course content, teaching, and assessment strategies to :Improve student attainment of learning outcomes;
Address diverse student needs;Integrate thinking and writing skills;Use technology to support instruction.Plan, organize, and independently carry out instructional and non-instructional duties.Prepare course syllabi, maintain office hours, and engage in teaching activities, including evening, weekend, distance, and off-campus classes.Perform non-teaching duties such as departmental service, public engagement, professional development, and scholarly activities.Perform related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in Health or a related field AND at least three years of clinical work experience AND current Hawaii MLS / MLT State License.OR Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science AND at least three years of clinical experience AND current Hawaii MLS license.OR Bachelors degree in any field, Associates in Medical Laboratory Technician, plus three years of clinical experience and current Hawaii MLT license.Desirable Qualifications
Successful post-secondary teaching experience and positive assessments.Experience in student activity planning, engaging instruction, and evaluation.Ability to collaborate collegially with peers and administration.Experience integrating writing, technology, and thinking skills in MLT teaching.Proven ability to write clear prose.Use of technology in instruction.Commitment to community college values, diversity, and inclusion.Project management skills and initiative.Alignment with the colleges mission as an indigenous-serving institution supporting Hawai‘is social and economic development.Application Process
