Job Summary and Responsibilities

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice . They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below.

Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient / customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety.

Evidence-based Practice (EBP) and Patient Care : Builds skills to utilize current evidence based practice knowledge, the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum.

Taking Ownership : Has a basic understanding and knowledge of the current situation or issue at hand; ability to take full personal responsibility or ownership for assignments, activities, decisions and results.
