Job Title : Occupational Therapy Assistant Profession : Occupational Therapy Assistant Specialty : Long Term Care Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Days Hours per Shift : 8 hours, Monday to Friday Experience : Minimum 1 year of OTA experience, Long Term Care or Skilled Nursing Facility experience required License : Active State Licensure / Registration required Must-Have : - OTA license - Level II fieldwork experience Description : Utilizes evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions. Provides rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with cognitive and / or physical functioning disorders under the supervision and direction of an Occupational Therapist. Administers various procedures as part of the rehabilitation plan including but not limited to : ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices. Assesses patient progress and communicates with the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly in the clinical record. Reports effectiveness of treatment outcomes to the supervising Occupational Therapist. Provides consultation to patients and their families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding cognitive and / or physical disorders. Effectively communicates with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans. Provides input to supervisor for the discharge summary of services provided. Documents all regulatory and clinically required information in the electronic documentation system. Maintains patient records according to policy. Accurately records treatment minutes for services provided. Participates in required meetings including patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and rehabilitation meetings. Participates in required trainings, in-services, and conferences. Works with supervising Occupational Therapist to obtain necessary DME or supplies per regulatory and clinical practice requirements. Supervises and supports students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist. Adheres to professional practice standards and ethics during performance as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
