Job description

Safety Specialist

This role involves ensuring adherence to the project's safety guidelines, coordinating with safety leads, and ensuring all personnel have completed required safety training. The safety specialist will engage with crews on-site, monitor safety practices, and participate in safety meetings. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with project-specific safety plans and client safety requirements, coordinating with the regional safety lead for safety signage and PPE availability, confirming completion of safety orientation training for all on-site personnel, gathering and organizing documentation from subcontractors and trade partners, conducting daily safety audits using a digital platform and sharing findings with the project team, submitting a minimum of two safety observation reports per week, spending 6070% of time in the field engaging with crews and monitoring safety practices, attending and contributing to various meetings, including daily huddles and coordination meetings, leading or supporting weekly all-hands safety meetings, reviewing and tracking safety documentation and spot-checking during site visits, notifying the project team and safety lead of incidents or near-misses and assisting in investigations, conducting site-specific safety orientations for trade partners, maintaining communication with subcontractor safety representatives and participating in planning meetings for high-risk activities, and maintaining clear communication with the project team and safety leadership, and addressing safety concerns proactively.

Essential Skills include minimum of 5 years of experience in construction safety, with at least 3 years in a managerial role, safety certifications such as CHST or CSP are required, bachelor's degree in a related field with 810 years of safety experience is acceptable, experience supporting data center construction projects is highly preferred, excellent communication skills and reliability, and ability to support and align with the project schedule. Additional Skills & Qualifications include OSHA 30 certification, ASP, CHST, or CSP certification, experience in commercial building construction is considered, and ability to work on sites requiring NDAs is a plus.

The work location is in Itasca, IL. The position requires a commitment to 40-50 hours per week, with start times typically at 5 : 00 or 6 : 00 AM. The role requires being on-site every day, with 70% of the time spent in the field and 30% in the office. Flexibility to accommodate extended hours if project needs require it is expected. The candidate must pass a background check and drug / alcohol test.

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
