About The Position

Summary : Works under the supervision of the O.R. manager, associate manager, charge nurse, and Director of Surgical Services.  Must be a trained Surgical Technologist First Assistant who works under direction of the surgeon to handle vital tasks such as positioning and prepping the patient for surgery, ensuring clear visibility, maintaining hemostasis, closing and appropriately dressing surgical wounds. Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product of service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience. Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care.

Responsibilities :

• Reviews the patient’s surgical plan, operative consent, and relevant medical history.
• Prepares the operating room by ensuring proper equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and functioning.
• Positions and preps the patient for surgery according to surgical and safety protocols.
• Collaborates with the surgical team to confirm patient identity, surgical site, and procedure (timeout verification).
