American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU night shift assignment requiring BLS, NRP certification, and NICU drip titration skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care Level III Neonatal Intensive Care UnitThe unit features 22 beds in an open concept with a central RN stationPatient population includes premature infants (as early as 23 weeks), RDS, SGA, hypoglycemia, bilirubin, IUGR, and C-sections without surgical or g-tube placementsNurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 2-3, up to 1 : 4 for stable feeder-growersRN will be required to titrate common NICU drips including antibiotics, multivitamin, iron, surfactant, TPN, and epinephrineUses Epic EMR systemNight shifts are 12 hours; must work Christmas and fulfill 2 holiday requirements per yearWeekend shifts required every other or every third weekend as scheduled by managementRequired to float to newborn nursery and pediatric units as neededHospital provides scrubs for all staffNICU RNs attend deliveries under 36 weeks gestation and assist with APGAR scoringCentral lines, intubation, and bubble CPAP frequently used on unitCharge nurse is present on every shift and may also take assignments or respond to deliveriesNo dedicated nurse aides or patient care techs routinely available for this unitOrientation consists of two unit-specific shiftsTeam-focused, positive, and family-centered work environmentUp to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed if provided up front; additional RTO will not be approved\n \n Requirements\n
Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 1 year NICU RN experience required; 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience strongly preferredCurrent BLS and NRP certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedExperience titrating NICU drips requiredTwo professional references (including one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer / supervisor from the last 3 years) requiredCopy of driver’s license requiredCandidates must not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past yearPermanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
