Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN with at least 2 years of recent specialty experience and active MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a tertiary care hospitalCare for complex post-operative thoracic and vascular surgery patients, including CABG, valve replacements, aortic repairs, and morePatient ratio is typically 1 : 4Treat adults with multiple co-morbidities such as advanced heart failure, ESRD, and diabetesExpected to work day shifts (3x12 hours, 6 : 45am–7 : 15pm)Required to work 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, including a mix of Fridays, Saturdays, and SundaysHoliday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed by the unitFloating required within the service line and to all MICC units as neededEpic EMR is used; Epic experience preferredNo call requiredNavy scrubs are requiredResponsibilities include post-operative care for thoracic and vascular surgery patients, complex wound management, blood product administration, and pain managementCare provided for patients with chest tubes, epicardial wires, temporary pacemakers, and a variety of IV dripsLevel 1 Trauma, Magnet-recognized, and teaching hospital environmentInfusion pump and glucometer training must be completed before startingPre-start Epic training required; option to test out or complete the moduleOrientation modules and labs must be completed prior to startDrug screening required with zero tolerance for positive or diluted resultsNo travel partners accepted for these assignmentsUp to 7 days of RTO may be requestedFacility may offer hire without interview; interview may be requested if preferredFree parking is provided on-siteFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyRequirements
Active MO or compact RN license in handMinimum 2 years of recent PCU / Stepdown / IMC / DOU nursing experienceAt least 1 year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no gap greater than 90 daysCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredAbility to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and respond to rapid response callsProficiency with cardiac monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and management of post-op cardiac surgical patientsSkilled in central and peripheral line management, pacemakers (temporary / permanent), chest tubes, wound vac use, tracheostomy management, and feeding tube careExperience with Epic EMR strongly preferredMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not acceptedTwo professional references from the last year—one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN or higher—are requiredPending licenses not accepted; all licenses must be valid at time of considerationBenefits
