Job description

Join Wake Forest Emergency Providers (WFEP) , part of Advocate Healthone of the largest nonprofit integrated health systems in the U.S.and practice where clinical excellence meets mountain adventure. Based in Boone, North Carolina, enjoy a vibrant college town nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains, offering year-round outdoor activities like hiking, biking, skiing, kayaking, and fly fishing.

Locations :

  • Watauga Medical Center (117-bed hospital) with a 20-bed Emergency Department
  • Cannon Memorial Hospital (Critical Access Hospital) with a 10-bed Emergency Department and 10 inpatient beds

Key Details :

  • Physician- led scheduling :
  • Watauga : 8-9-hour shifts
  • Cannon : 12-hour shifts
  • Annual ED Volume :
  • Watauga : ~25,000 visits
  • Cannon : ~8,500 visits
  • 7 full-time physicians; 2 full-time Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
  • In-House Coverage (24 / 7) :
  • OB, Hospitalists, Pediatrics
  • Surgery and Orthopedics
  • Cardiology with PCI & STEMI capabilities
  • On-Call Specialties :
  • ENT, GI, Oncology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Urology, Radiology, Palliative Care
  • EPIC EMR
  • Access to Abridge, an AI-powered documentation tool integrated with Epic
  • Part of a nationally recognized, physician-led medical group
  • Embedded service line model
  • Committed to safe, equitable care for all patients

    • Training and / or Experience Required

  • Emergency Medicine Board Certified / Board Eligible
  • North Carolina Medical License (or eligibility)
